a seven-day inspired e-course
in cultivating refuge for your heart

This year I feel it is especially important to start off by creating a calm refuge, a sort of nest where body, mind, and spirit can rest and be nourished.
— Laura Lowery, Founder & Editor of Lucia

For the past few years I've been creating sanctuary in my home--a place where I am able to restore my creativity, energy and vitality.

It occurred to me the simple practices I've cultivated might help others right now, too. Inspiration is like that, I think. It's meant to be shared. Like many of you, I find myself overwhelmed in the wake of the U.S. election.

In difficult times like this, we know it is only the heart that heals.

When inspiration feels quashed, healing can be found in the tenderness of the pain itself. It is a time to be in touch with our hearts. It is time to go slowly, speak and act mindfully, listen carefully, and move gently toward what hurts rather than away from it. But how?

In order to practice this kind of courage we must keep a safe place to return to. Even the fiercest warriors need sanctuary.

I hope you will join me for a creative and heart-focused exploration of how to create sacred space for yourself right where it all begins...at home.

how it works

The Sanctuary of Home is a seven-day offering to inspire and support you in creating calm refuge and space for inspiration in your home--so that you can head into 2017 nourished, centered, and held.

Each day you will receive an email from me with a love note and a PDF designed with beautiful photography, inspiring messages, and a series of journal prompts you can use to take your exploration as deep as you wish. I will also share short daily audio recordings (yes, my voice!) including gentle meditations and home blessings. Each day will build on the last, so that by the end of our week together you will have begun to create your very own sanctuary at home.

who is this offering for?

....Once I discovered I am actually an introvert (thank you, Susan Cain!) a lot of things started to make sense, including how utterly exhausted I become after spending time and energy in large groups of people. I discovered how imperative it is for my well being to have quiet time alone to recharge.  wandering in nature, reading books, and  I  long for creative connection I am finding myself drawn to a more analogue

what we will cover

  • The concept of sanctuary and why we all need it so desperately
  • How energy inhabits your home and creative ways you can work with and shift it to support you
  • Why altars are everywhere and how to fashion one that reflects and nourishes your own heart
  • A gentle meditation practice you can borrow or transform
  • Ways to make boundaries, use guardians, and work with nature to help protect your home
  • The power of words, images, art and other sacred things
  • Creative rituals to honor darkness, invite light, and make transitions

...more of an overview for the overarching page? "2017 offerings" or "courses"?...

We all need a slow guide for venturing into this coming year. Perhaps you are feeling called in ways you may not have expected, or in ways that are not yet entirely clear. One thing is clear: Our world needs more heart.

Even the fiercest warrior needs a sanctuary, a healthy body, a clear mind, and access to her creative resources.

I feel called to share inspiration--to create an offering for those souls who, like me, have an introverted side and know intuitively their skills and wisdom are not only necessary for healing our world, but are in fact foundational.

I believe deeply that every action we make impacts the entirety of humanity. One small gesture has a ripple effect that changes the course of history.

It is through caring for ourselves, our inner experience, that we will find the energy to do our oh-so-important heart work.

nourish, nest, and create a refuge for your heart

in these seemingly tumultuous times, we need more heart.

theme : wtf is authenticity?

Join Lucia's editor, Laura Lowery, and five other inspired women for Saturday morning coffee and a casually guided conversation around the theme: wtf is authenticity?

Authenticity is a word we hear a lot these days. It has a noble ring to it. What does it mean? Has it become a word we women use to police our own voices, writing, art, relationships? Can striving for authenticity become a form of perfectionism? What does it really mean to find your authentic voice? How do other women do it?
